The overall goal of this research program is to understand how stress and social contexts affect health and the biopsychosocial factors that account for those links. We seek to foster a multidisciplinary collaboration that capitalizes on advances in mobile technology and biopsychosocial methods to gain a better understanding of social, psychological and biological factors influencing healthy aging.
We have several NIH funded projects examining topics including: 1) racial disparities in hypertension, 2) Alzheimer’s caregiving in daily life, and 3) alcohol use and cardiovascular health among older couples. Most of our projects examine how daily experiences of stress and social interactions impact well-being and the cardiovascular system using mobile surveys, ambulatory devices, and longitudinal data.
