Job Summary

The overall goal of this research program is to understand how stress and social contexts affect health and the biopsychosocial factors that account for those links. We seek to foster a multidisciplinary collaboration that capitalizes on advances in mobile technology and biopsychosocial methods to gain a better understanding of social, psychological and biological factors influencing healthy aging.

We have several NIH funded projects examining topics including: 1) racial disparities in hypertension, 2) Alzheimer’s caregiving in daily life, and 3) alcohol use and cardiovascular health among older couples.  Most of our projects examine how daily experiences of stress and social interactions impact well-being and the cardiovascular system using mobile surveys,  ambulatory devices, and longitudinal data.  (ABI program website: https://abi.isr.umich.edu)

The fellowship will provide experience in research using longitudinal methods, mobile technology and biomeasures, as well as grantsmanship and manuscript preparation through collaborative work on these research projects.  The fellowship also provides access to professional development workshops, seminars in advanced methodology and statistics, and funds for conference travel. The postdoctoral fellow will have multiple opportunities for mentorship from our program faculty and collaborators.  The position will provide many opportunities to lead papers and grant proposals as well as to collaborate on projects with colleagues.

Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and assisting in manuscript preparation
  • Preparing and delivering scientific presentations for regional, national, and international conferences
