The Hearing-Well study focuses on the daily experiences and well-being of individuals who own hearing aids.

Lab Visit Reminders
  • Please follow the arrival instructions and wait in the main lobby when you arrive. The study will meet you there and bring you up to our lab.
  • At one point, you will be asked to remove your hearing aid. We will have a box available for storage, but you are welcome to bring your own hearing aid case.
  • Please bring your health insurance card.
  • Please bring any glasses or other vision correction you use, as there will be some reading involved.
  • The appointment will last approximately 2 hours
  • You will complete an interview, a cognition test, a hearing test, and a training session
Home Visit Reminders
  • The study team will knock on your door at your scheduled appointment time. If there is no answer, we will attempt to reach you by phone and text.
  • At one point, you will be asked to remove your hearing aid. We will have a box available for storage, but you are welcome to use your own hearing aid case.

Study Details!

Who can participate?

Individuals at least 65 years old who have been diagnosed with hearing loss in both ears, purchased hearing aids in the past 3-6 months, and live in Southeast Michigan.

What is involved? 

  • Lab/Home Visit (interview, hearing test, cognitive test)
  • 7-Day Daily Life Assessments (Complete online surveys and use the study app)
  • Monthly online survey for 12 months
